To use Utexo Swap, your Tribe Wallet needs a small BTC balance to cover Bitcoin transaction fees and to create UTXOs for receiving RGB assets. This guide explains how to acquire BTC and transfer it to your wallet.

Step 1: Acquire BTC

You can purchase BTC through a centralised exchange or a fiat onramp service. Use a platform available in your region that supports withdrawals to an external Bitcoin address.

Fiat Onramp Services

If you prefer to buy BTC directly without creating an exchange account, these services allow you to purchase BTC with a debit card, credit card, or bank transfer:

Step 2: Withdraw BTC to Tribe Wallet

Once you have BTC on an exchange or onramp service:
  1. Open Tribe Wallet and copy your Bitcoin receive address (a Taproot bc1p... address)
  2. On your exchange, navigate to Withdraw and select Bitcoin (BTC)
  3. Paste your Tribe Wallet address as the destination
  4. Enter the withdrawal amount and confirm
A small BTC amount is sufficient to get started. You need enough to cover transaction fees for UTXO creation and swap operations (typically a few thousand satoshis).

Step 3: Create UTXOs

After your BTC arrives in Tribe Wallet, you must create UTXOs before you can receive RGB assets:
  1. Go to Other assets (bottom navigation)
  2. Tap Create UTXOs
  3. Select the number of UTXOs to create
  4. Confirm the transaction
See What Is a UTXO for a full explanation of why this step is required.
