Prerequisites and overview for performing BTC and RGB asset swaps on the Utexo Swap DEX.

This page covers what you need before performing your first swap on the Utexo Swap DEX, and explains how the exchange operates at a high level.

What the Utexo Swap DEX Does

The Utexo Swap DEX enables non-custodial exchange between native Bitcoin (BTC) and RGB-native assets on the Bitcoin mainnet. Swaps are atomic - they either complete in full or revert. There is no counterparty risk and no wrapped token involved.

Supported swap directions:

• BTC to RGB asset (e.g. RGB USDT) - Send on-chain BTC, receive an RGB asset in your Tribe Wallet
• RGB asset to BTC (e.g. RGB USDT to BTC) - Send an RGB asset from Tribe Wallet, receive on-chain BTC

Prerequisites

Before you can use the Utexo Swap DEX, you need the following:

Tribe Wallet (mobile app)

Tribe Wallet is the RGB-compatible mobile wallet used to hold, send, and receive RGB assets.

• Download Tribe Wallet on iOS or Android
• Complete the setup and create a wallet
• Create at least one UTXO in the wallet before generating an RGB invoice (required for RGB asset delivery)

A Bitcoin wallet with a BTC balance

For BTC-to-RGB swaps, you need a standard Bitcoin wallet with a BTC balance to fund the deposit address Utexo generates. Any Bitcoin wallet that supports sending to a P2TR (Taproot) address works.

For RGB-to-BTC swaps, you also need a Bitcoin address where you want to receive the BTC. A Taproot address is recommended for privacy. See What is a Bitcoin Taproot Address for background.

An RGB asset balance (for RGB-to-BTC swaps)

To swap an RGB asset for BTC, your Tribe Wallet must hold a sufficient balance of the asset you want to swap (e.g. RGB USDT or SatoshiRamen).

If you do not yet hold an RGB asset, you can acquire one by first swapping BTC for an RGB asset. See Swap BTC to RGB.

UTXOs created in Tribe Wallet

RGB assets are delivered to a UTXO in your Tribe Wallet. If no UTXOs exist, RGB asset delivery will fail.

Always create UTXOs in Tribe Wallet before generating an RGB invoice. See What is a UTXO and Create Wallet for guidance.
